Wines of Chile meets with new Minister of Agriculture in his first official appointment

At the meeting, they analyzed the future of the new projects and what is coming for the sector.

During the morning of last Tuesday, in new minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, in company of the Undersecretary of the portfolio, Alfonso Vargas, realized his first formal encounter with representatives of the workers, union leaders and unions of the agricultural world.

At the meeting, where Mario Pablo Silva, president of Vinos de Chile, was also present; Luis Schmidt, president of the Federation of Fruit Producers (Fedefruta) and Ronald Bown, president of the Association of Fruit Exporters (Asoex), analyzed the future of the new projects and what is coming for the sector.

About the meeting, Minister Walker announced that "this is the sample of the Chilean countryside, which after a long time we have managed to sit down to talk about the future of this area".

On the occasion, he announced that the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, will promote in the Congress changes to the statute of the agricultural seasonal worker. "We were lucky that the President told us that he had urged this bill that is very delicate for the sector and will help the good understanding between workers and employers," the authority said.

Finally, regarding the focus of the work he wants to promote in the Ministry, he pointed out that this will be marked by "a social seal, accompanied by a seal of modernization of Chilean agriculture and a seal of accompaniment to the world producer."
